Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board (MCSAB) contracted with the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA) to implement its annual parent and general public survey. NACSA partnered with the Survey Research Lab at Mississippi State University (SRL) to administer the survey in the summer of 2022. Survey participants were randomly drawn from one of two parent pools: a charter parent pool, which included all parents of children enrolled in charter schools in 2020 2021 and a noncharter parent pool, which included parents of children eligible to attend, but not enrolled in, charter schools.

Public Perception of Charter Schools in Mississippi 2022

*More than 80 percent of parents rated their school as either excellent or good overall These high ratings demonstrate that the majority of charter school parents are pleased with the academic support, expectations, and individualized attention their children receive.

*Ninety-three percent of those surveyed responded they strongly agree or agree that they feel welcome at their child’s school.

*75 percent of respondents said they would re-enroll their child in the same charter school

*89 percent of respondents responded positively when rating their child’s school. These responses reflect high parent satisfaction with the academic progress of charter school students among survey participants.
